The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is a registered charity that strives to promote and progress civil engineering.  ICE believes that civil engineers are at the heart of society, delivering sustainable development through knowledge, skills and professional expertise.  Founded in 1818, the Institution was granted a Royal Charter in 1828.  With a membership of over 80,000, the original aims to foster and promote the art and science of civil engineering resonates with the aims of the Institution today.

Via the ICE Virtual Library, ICE Publishing is the publishing arm of the ICE and delivers the most comprehensive civil engineering resource in the world.   Its powerful searching and browsing tools allow users to find the information required quickly and easily.  Articles can be accessed as soon as they are published.

Specific journals such as Geotechnique, Magazine of Concrete Research and Dams and Reservoirs are internationally renowned for publishing research of the highest quality.  The ICE Virtual Library enables users to browse archives back to 1836, including over 30 current journals and approximately 1,600 eBooks.
